SUPERSTITIONS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

What are the most  common        superstitions
 in the United Kingdom?

There are many superstitions in the UK, but one of the most widespread is that it's bad luck to walk under a ladder - even if it means getting off the pavement and go through a busy street.
Another common superstition says it's bad luck to open an umbrella in the house - can bring misfortune to the person that opened as a family. Anyone opening an umbrella in fine weather is very unpopular, as it inevitably brings rain. It says the number 13 is unlucky for some, and when the day 13 of the month falls on Friday, anyone wishing to avoid an inauspicious event had better stay home.
The worst misfortune that can happen is by breaking a mirror brings seven years bad luck. It is assumed that superstition has its roots in ancient times, when mirrors were considered tools of the gods.
In the United Kingdom usually black cats are considered lucky, though, in reality, are associated with witchcraft - a black cat is usually a relative of a witch animal. It is considered good luck if a black cat crosses your path - even in the United States is the opposite belief.
Finally, a widespread superstition is that of touching wood for good luck. This measure was taken if you think that says something that affects their future.
